The Mashpee
Wampanoag Tribe of Massachusetts continues to look for gaming sites, Chairman Cedric Cromwell said.
Soon after gaining federal recognition, the tribe started the land-into-trust process for a casino in Middleboro. The deal fell through after the tribe went with a different investor.
A second site in Fall River also fell through after the tribe amended its land-into-trust application. Now it appears a third location at a old dog track is no longer on the table.
"We continue to carefully evaluate multiple sites throughout our ancestral homeland in Southeastern Massachusetts with an eye toward securing a location that will provide the best opportunity for our tribe as we move forward with our plans for a resort casino," Cromwell told The Cape Cod Times in a statement.
