Cherokee Nation expects to finish expanded casinos in fall 2012

The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma has started work on two casino expansion projects.

The tribe broke ground on a new Cherokee Casino in Fort Gibson. The facility will be nearly double the size of the existing facility and will create 74 new jobs.

The tribe is also building a bigger casino in Ramona. The project will create 70 new jobs.

Both projects will be finished in fall of 2012. Tribal officials declined to give the costs of the expansion when asked by The Cherokee Phoenix.
