The Bureau of Indian Affairs will hold a public hearing on the July 27 to discuss an off-reservation casino for the Los Coyotes Band of Cahuilla and Cupeno Indians in California.
The tribe wants to build a casino in Barstow. The site is more than 100 miles from the reservation and was rejected by the Bush administration.
But the Obama administration has withdrawn the "guidance memo" that made it nearly impossible for tribes to acquire land away from existing reservation.
A new environmental impact statement for the casino has been prepared.
The public hearing will take place at 6pm in the gymnasium at Barstow College, 2700 Barstow Road, Barstow.
