The Fort Sill Apache
Tribe will discuss plans for gaming and other development on its new reservation in New Mexico.
The trust owns 30 acres in the southern part of the state. The Bureau of Indian Affairs declared the land to be a reservation in a notice that was published in the Federal Register today.
"Our first priority is to create the economic engine that would drive our return” to New Mexico, Chairman Jeff Haozous told The Albuquerque Journal.
The tribe will hold a community meeting on December 7 in Deming.
