"A number of stories and editorials have been published recently regarding the potential award of a new 25-year lease agreement between Expo New Mexico and the Downs at Albuquerque. Laguna Development Corporation was the only other responder to the request for proposals issued by the state.
Based on our knowledge of what has transpired over the last several weeks, we believe the people of New Mexico should understand who we are and how we view this process as it draws to an end.
Laguna Development will continue to respect the state RFP process. However, we think it’s important to speak out regarding a decision that does not represent the best interests of the state, the city of Albuquerque and taxpayers, in our view."
