The Passamaquoddy Tribe of Maine is seeking voter approval to open a racino but that's not the only gaming question on the November 8 ballot.

The Passamaquoddy Tribe at Pleasant Point and the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Indian Township will operate 600 slot machines at a racetrack in Washington County if voters approve Question 2. The Putting Maine To Work initiative also includes a racino in city of Biddeford with 1,400 slot machines.

“We can change our lifestyles by taking control of our destiny. A ‘no’ vote would mean another setback for our county. A ‘yes’ vote would mean that together, we can all move forward,” Pleasant Point Gov. Reuben Clayton Cleaves said earlier this month, The Bangor Daily News reported.

The revenue from the 2,000 slot machines is expected to generate $34 million for the state's general fund and nearly $20 million for other funds every year, according to the Maine Secretary of State’s Citizen’s Guide to the Referendum Election.

Question 3 on the ballot authorizes a facility with 1,000 slot machines. Revenue is expected to generate $6.5 million for the state's general fund and $20 million for other funds every year.
