Connecticut's two federally recognized tribes are ready to join the Internet gambling industry, The New London Day reports.
The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is reportedly close to a deal with Sportingbet, an English company. The tribe could launch a free-play poker site soon.
The Mohegan Tribe is also interested. "We have had and continue to have" talks for Internet gambling, chief of staff Chuck Bunnell told the paper.
Internet wagering is illegal in the U.S. except under a tribal-state Class III compact or under state law.
