"Yes, it really has been nine years since the proponents of Yuba County casino showed up at a Board of Supervisors meeting on July 2, 2002, and announced their intentions.
It was quite an odd spectacle. They weren't on the agenda. They just sort of appeared and said they wanted to build a casino.
The powers-that-be in Yuba County, or at least some of them, seemed quite favorably disposed to a big-time gambling operation.
Fast forward nine years to the start of a holiday weekend, the Labor Day weekend, and it was time for another big announcement about the casino.
The feds say yes! Great plan!. Quite a project!"
