The Association of Boxing Commissions says a bare-knuckle fight at the casino owned by the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation of Arizona broke “just about every rule in the book."
The event took place at the Fort McDowell Casino on August 5.
It had to be stopped after one of the fighters suffered some serious blows, according to the ABC.
The group said it doesn't know if the fight was regulated by the tribe's boxing commission. Other tribes, including at least one in Arizona, are part of the ABC.
Federal law recognizes tribal authority to regulate boxing events. But tribal standards must be at least as restrictive as the state's or they must comply with the recommended regulatory guidelines certified and published by the ABC.
