The Eastern Band of Cherokee
Indians could be getting live card dealers at its casino in North Carolina.
The tribe has been in talks with Gov. Beverly Perdue (D) to amend the Class III gaming compact. Nothing came out in writing but lawmakers said they have been asked to consider dealers at Harrah's Cherokee Casino.
The talks surfaced just as the Kenan-Flagler Business
School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill released a report citing the economic impacts of the casino.
Chief Michell Hicks said the study shows the benefits of expanding Class III gaming.
“There is a payoff here for a lot people and not just the tribe,” Hicks told The Asheville Citizen-Times.
