The Bureau of Indian Affairs has extended the comment period on a draft environmental impact statement for the proposed Jemez Pueblo off-reservation casino.
The BIA released the draft in April. Comments are being accepted until July 1, in preparation for a final EIS.
The draft states that the casino will generate about $157.2 million in economic activity and about 1,490 jobs in its fifth year.
The casino itself will generate 950 new jobs, according to the tribe.
The casino would be located on 70 acres in Anthony, about 300 miles from the reservation. The tribe is proceeding under the two-part determination section of the Indian
Gaming Regulatory Act.
