The Shinnecock Nation of New York is close to a deal for a casino on Long Island, The New York Post reports.
The paper said the tribe is working on a memorandum of understanding with Nassau County. The deal would allow the tribe to use the Nassau Veterans Memorial
Coliseum for a casino.
The tribe gained federal recognition last October. A land-into-trust application could face questions under the U.S. Supreme Court
decision in Carcieri
v. Salazar.
