The city council in Richmond, California, has paved the way for a final decision on a casino for the Guidiville Band of Pomo Indians.
The council voted 4-1 to certify the environmental impact
statement and environmental impact report for the tribe's Point Molate Resort.
A final decision on the project itself is scheduled for April 5.
The tribe still needs the Bureau of Indian Affairs to approve its land-into-trust application. The tribe also needs to negotiate a Class III gaming compact with the state and submit it to the BIA.
