The Ak-Chin Indian Community of Arizona says business at its casino appears to be improving.
The tribe, like others in Arizona, has taken a hit during the recession. "I would say (the decline in revenue is) impactful,” Chairman Louis Manuel, Jr. told The Maricopa Monitor.
But an executive at Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino Resort said business looks better this year. And revenues at all tribal casinos in Arizona have risen in the last two quarters, according to the Arizona Indian Gaming Association.
"It’s all about the economy. When people feel like they … have a disposable income they start spending it,” executive director Sheila Morago told the paper.
