Lawmaker in Georgia claims tribes buying land to open casinos

There aren't any federally recognized tribes in Georgia but that's not stopping a Republican lawmaker from trying to block them from trying to open casinos.

Sen. William Ligon won't identify any of the tribes or developers that he says are interested in the state. But he's introduced a bill to give the state legislature the right to override land sales to tribes

“What we’re trying to do is allow the state to have some voice over its property,” Ligon said at a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting, Morris News Service reported.
