Commercial gaming interests are urging New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) to reconsider an off-reservation casino for the Stockbridge Munsee Band of
Mohican Indians of Wisconsin.
The tribe reached a land claim settlement and gaming compact with Cuomo's predecessor. Cuomo, who was attorney general at the time, has said the deal is valid.
But racetrack owners say the agreement was approved without public input. They are worried a casino in the Catskills could hurt the state's racetrack industry.
