Little Traverse Bay Bands sued over changes to gaming enterprise

The Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians of Michigan is facing a lawsuit from the brother of the tribal chairman.

Fred Harrington says his brother, Ken Harrington, and other members of the council violated the tribal constitution by passing a law that put them in charge of the Odawa Casino Resort. The tribe dissolved its gaming board of directors and created an authority made up of three council members.

"Our constitution is very clear about the tribal council being a legislative body and this law placed them clearly in a management position; they are required by our constitution to delegate such activities and they delegated it to themselves."

Fred Harrington wants the tribe's court to invalidate the law.
