California tribes take different views on Internet gaming measure

California tribes are gearing for another debate on Internet gaming.

The California Online Poker Association, whose membership includes 21 tribes, is supporting SB 40 by Sen. Lou Correa (D). But the California Tribal Business Alliance, which represents four tribes, opposes the bill.

COPA hopes to work with non-Indian card clubs to set up an Internet poker game in the state. The California Gaming Association, which represents the majority of the card clubs, supports SB 40.

Sen. Rod Wright (D) has introduced SB 45, another Internet gaming bill.
