New report to show impact of recession on Wisconsin tribal casinos

The state of Wisconsin's tribal gaming industry will be reported in an audit that's being released later this summer.

The Legislative Audit Bureau issues its audit of the Division of Gaming every two years. The last report, which was released in March 2008, showed revenues at $1.3 billion, but that was before the recession.

"We've definitely felt the effects of the recession — some tribal communities more than others," Ernest Stevens Jr., the chairman of the National Indian Gaming Association, told The Green Bay Press-Gazette.

The Oneida Nation has seen some changes. "Customers are very conservative with their entertainment spending," casino general manager Louise Cornelius told the paper.
