The board in charge of distributing gaming revenues from the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Indians of Michigan is questioning some requests for the money.
The FireKeepers Local Revenue Sharing Board has already approved $351,383 for local governments. But the board is looking closely at other requests to make sure they are directly related to the FireKeepers Casino.
As a result, some funds have been denied. "If it's already been reimbursed ... we can't reimburse it again," LRSB Secretary Greg Moore said at a meeting, The Battle Creek Enquirer reported.
The tribe's Class III gaming compact calls for 2 percent of slot machine profits to be shared with the community. The tribe's first payment to the fund was $1.93 million, twice what was anticipated.
