First Nation still hoping Seminole Tribe on board with casino

It looks like the Seminole Tribe of Florida may not be involved in a casino deal with a group of First Nations in Saskatchewan.

In March, Beardy's and Okemasis First Nation Chief Rick Gamble said the Independent First Nations of Saskatchewan reached a deal for a Hard Rock facility in downtown Regina. But there were conflicting statements from the Seminoles and now it seems there never was any sort of arrangement.

"Nothing's going on," an assistant to Richard Bowers, the president of the Seminole Tribe of Florida Inc., the tribe's economic development arm, told The Regina Leader-Post.

Gamble hopes the Seminoles are on board but he said other investors are interested in the project.
