Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs to discuss Internet gaming

The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs will meet Thursday to discuss Internet gaming.

Native leaders scheduled the meeting in response to the province's interest in Internet gaming. The government might start its own gambling site or work with other provinces.

"Obviously it’s happening and it’s not being regulated. I think it would be good for us to know what impact it’s having on the existing casinos and gaming operations," AMC Grand Chief Ron Evans told The Winnipeg Sun.

First Nations in Manitoba operate two casinos with three more on the way.
