Mohegan Tribe monitors gaming debate in Massachusetts

The Mohegan Tribe owns casinos in Connecticut and Pennsylvania and could soon be opening one in Massachusetts.

The tribe wants to build a resort in Palmer, in western Massachusetts. That's about 60 miles from the reservation, where the tribe operates Mohegan Sun.

The plan depends on passage of a bill in Massachusetts that would authorize two resorts. The tribe plans to compete for a license.

The tribe also operates Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in Pennsylvania, a state-licensed facility with slot machines. Table games are being added.
