Little River Band wins support for two casino agreements

The Little River Band of Ottawa Indians of Michigan won approval of two service agreements for its proposed off-reservation casino.

The tribe plans to convert an old racetrack into a casino. The agreements, which were approved by the Fruitport Township Board and await approval from the Muskegon County board, cover police services and municipal services to the site.

The tribe has acquired a total of 233 acres for the proposed casino, about 80 miles from the reservation. According to news reports, the tribe plans to file a land-into-trust application for 60 acres.
