Another year, another debate on Seminole gaming deal

A Class III gaming compact with the Seminole Tribe is once again on the agenda for the Florida Legislature this year.

The tribe and Gov. Charlie Crist (R) signed the deal to cover slot machines and tables games. The tribe agreed to share revenues with the state.

But after the Florida Supreme Court in July 2008 said the governor overstepped his authority, lawmakers got into the game. That's when they started making demands for more revenues while restricting the type of games the tribe could operate.

Republican lawmakers have been the biggest roadblocks so far. The main opponent, Marco Rubio, is seeking the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate against Crist.
