The Gila River Indian Community of Arizona offers a mentoring program for tribal members who want to enter the gaming industry.
The program began about a year ago. So far, 12 tribal members have participate and eight have been promoted to permanent jobs.
"I wouldn't be here if it weren't for the community," participant Jedidiah Harrah, 30, told The Arizona Republic. "Through the mentoring program, I'm not only learning about computers but I am learning project management and how the casino runs."
The tribe operates three gaming facilities.
