BIA hosts public meeting on Cloverdale Rancheria casino project

The Bureau of Indian Affairs held a public meeting on the casino proposed by the Cloverdale Rancheria in California.

The tribe plans to build a $250 million casino in Sonoma County. The 596,000 square-foot gaming facility would be located on a 70-acre site in the town of Cloverdale.

The BIA is taking comments on a draft environmental impact statement for the project. According to The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat, most everyone who spoke at the meeting last night opposed the casino, citing complaints about its size and the environmental impact.

The comment period closes October 20.
