The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut said it will sign a memorandum of understanding for its proposed casino in the town of Palmer, Massachusetts.
The tribe plans to open a resort on a 100-acre site in the town. Even though a bill to legalize gaming failed this year the tribe remains committed to Palmer.
"We think Western Massachusetts is absolutely the right place for this project," Chairwoman Lynn Malerba told WWLP-TV.
The tribe operates Mohegan Sun on its reservation, about 60 miles away from Palmer.
