Gun Lake Tribe secures $165M loan to finish construction of casino

The Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians of Michigan, also known as the Gun Lake Tribe, secured a $165 million loan to finish work on its casino.

The tribe broke ground on the Gun Lake Casino last September. Officials predicted an opening this fall but the tribe needed more money to move forward with the project.

"Securing this loan is another significant achievement in our tribal government’s effort to become economically self-sufficient. This development ensures badly needed jobs and services for our tribal citizens, and our neighbors in the local community,” Chairman D.K. Sprague said in a press release.

The tribe now anticipates an opening in early 2011. "Today we can say, once and for all, the Gun Lake Casino is coming to West Michigan," Sprague said.
