The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut announced the resignation of its top gaming executive.
Michael Speller, the president of the Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprises, left to pursue other opportunities. He had been on the job for only 18 months.
The tribe has gone through four gaming executives since 2007 amid the national recession.
"Whenever a company's been going through a tough time, it's not uncommon for the CEO to resign," Clyde Barrow, the director of the Center for Policy Analysis at UMass Dartmouth, told The New London Day.
Wiliam Sherlock, a former president of the gaming enterprise, will serve as interim leader.
