The Cloverdale Rancheria of Pomo Indians says it is still working with Sealaska on a casino project even though the Alaska Native corporation has defaulted on a land deal. A Sealaska subsidiary agreed to pay $8.2 million for the land. But the corporation is in default by more than $722,000, The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat reported. “As far as we understand, nothing has changed with the project and our partner,” Vickey Macias, the Cloverdale tribal administrator, told the paper in response. “We're still moving forward and have the goal of completing the project.” The tribe received a favorable Indian lands determination from the National Indian Gaming Commission last year.
