The Passamaquoddy Tribe at Indian Township is getting ready to open a Class II casino.
The facility will feature 50 electronic gaming machines, a restaurant and a bowling alley. "There is a lot of interest already," Gov. William Nicholas told The Bangor Daily News.
The casino is set to open on July 17 -- two days after a new state law that authorized electronic gaming machines goes into effect.
"The Passamaquoddy really did their homework,” David Bowler, of the Maine State Police gaming division, told the paper. “They wanted to do everything right and they were very good to work with.”
