Lytton Band to add more Class II machines to urban facility

The Lytton Band of Pomo Indians is adding 100 Class II gaming machines to its casino in San Pablo, California.

The tribe laid off 91 employees and halted Texas Hold 'em poker to make space for the new machines at the San Pablo Lytton Casino. The cardroom and food service workers will be able to apply for new jobs, a spokesperson said.

"There is no question that business is good, particularly as it relates to electronic bingo machines and other table games," spokesperson Doug Elmets told The Contra Costa Times.

The tribe acquired the off-reservation casino through an act of Congress. The law backdated the acquisition in order to avoid review under Section 20 of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
