The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut is not trying to lower the state's gambling age from 18 to 21, Chairman Rodney Butler said.
Butler said comments he made about the lower age were his own and did not represent the tribe's views. "It's not some plan we want to bring forward. It's not something we're pursuing. It was my personal observation," he told The New London Day.
However, Butler said the tribe is interested in extending the hours for alcohol sales. But the issue is extremely controversial due to recent fatal accidents involving drunken drivers, including one who had been served liquor at the Mohegan Tribe casino.
