Mashantucket casino in Pennsylvania hit for delays

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut faces thousands of dollars in fines and could lose its gaming license for delays associated with the Foxwoods Casino Philadelphia.

The tribe and its partners still haven't provided design plans and financial data for the project. So the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board issued a fine of $116,000 -- to grow by $2,000 each day until details are submitted.

The board also voted to consider suspending the casino's license, which was was issued in late 2006. A total of 11 licenses were issued and Foxwoods is the only facility that has yet to break ground.

The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut already opened a slot machine facility and plans to add table games under a bill that was recently signed into law.
