The Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma took control of a commercial racetrack and casino on December 31 and has already been making changes at the facility.
The tribe bought Remington Park last year from a company that was in bankruptcy proceedings. "In the 21-year history of Remington Park, this is the first time it has been owned by Oklahomans," president and general manager Scott Wells told The Oklahoman.
The tribe already added 50 new electronic gaming machines, bringing the total number of machines to 750. The tribe plans to replace up to 100 older machines with newer models.
The tribe is also remodeling viewing suites and other parts of the track.
