CNIGA elects new chairman, treasurer at meeting

The California Nations Indian Gaming Association has a new chairman and a new treasurer.

Daniel Tucker, the chairman of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, was elected chairman. He defeated Anthony Miranda, a member of the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians who held the post since 2003.

“There was a sense it was time for change,'' Michael Lombardi, a gaming commissioner for Augustine Band of Cahuilla Indians, told The Palm Springs Desert Sun.

Also elected was Steve Starling as treasurer.

CNIGA holds the annual Western Indian Gaming Conference on January 12-14, 2010.
