Menominee Nation asks for extension to casino deal

The Menominee Nation of Wisconsin is seeking a 15-month extension to its off-reservation casino deal.

The agreement with the city council in Kenosha and the board in Kenosha County expires at the end of this month. Local leaders expected the tribe to seek an extension -- though some said 15 months might be too long.

The tribe wants to convert the Dairyland Greyhound Park into a $1 billion casino. The Bush administration rejected the project earlier this year, saying the site was too far from the reservation.
