The Wyandotte Nation of Oklahoma has been waiting for action on a proposed off-reservation casino for 13 years.
The tribe owns land near Park City, Kansas. An application to use the site for gaming purposes was filed in 1996 and was updated in 2006, The Wichita Eagle reported.
The regional Bureau of Indian Affairs office in Eastern Oklahoma reviewed the application and forwarded it Washington, D.C., for final review. But nothing appears to have happened in the last few years.
"It's still an application in process," Doug Spangler, the tribe's director of governmental affairs, told the Eagle. "We're waiting and will continue to wait until the conclusion of that process."
The tribe already operates a Class II facility in downtown Kansas City, Kansas.
