Cartoon: Alabama governor and Choctaw money
"Bill Johnson's gamble: Burn Bob Riley? Johnson, GOP gubernatorial candidate and former Riley cabinet member, is claiming Riley took secret donations from Mississippi's Choctaw tribe in trade for his opposition to gambling in Alabama. Is it smart to go after a powerful and popular governor in your own party? Is Johnson crazy? Does he have legitimate evidence for his claims or is he burning his bridge to the Statehouse? The Riley administration says Johnson is doing the equivalent of yelling "FIRE!" in a crowded room of candidates, just for the attention. His campaign could use the publicity. It's still early in the race, but most polls indicate Bradley Byrne as the lead dog with Johnson a ways back in the pack." Get the Story:
