Eastern Shawnee Tribe outsources casino audit

The Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma hired an outside accounting firm to conduct regular audits of the Bordertown Casino.

The tribe hired Finley & Cook after being fined $17,000 by the National Indian Gaming Commission for failing to submit audits in a timely manner. The tribe settled the fine for $7,000 and agreed to spend another $3,000 on training.

As a result of hiring Finley & Cook, the tribe laid off nine employees, leaving just one in the casino finance staff.
