Tohono O'odham Nation goes to court for casino

The Tohono O'odham Nation was in state court this week for its lawsuit against the city of Glendale, Arizona.

The tribe wants to open a casino on 146 acres within the borders of Glendale. The tribe says the land is unincorporated but Glendale claims it annexed 46 acres.

If the land is unincorporated, then the tribe's land claim settlement act should pave the way for gaming at the site. Otherwise, the tribe would have to go through a lengthy review process for off-reservation casinos.

Oral arguments in the case are set for December 14.
