Racetracks in Arizona want approval for casinos

Non-Indian racetracks in Arizona are launching a campaign to legalize commercial gaming.

The tracks say "racinos" will help resolve the state's budget deficit. They also cite a threat from the off-reservation casino sought by the Tohono O’odham Nation.

Class III gaming is limited to tribes under a gaming compact that was approved by state voters. The Arizona Indian Gaming Association says voters continue to support tribal gaming.
