More calls to problem gambling hotline in Florida

The Florida Council on Compulsive Gambling reported a 5 percent increase in calls to the state's problem gambling hotline last year.

The council reported twice as many calls associated with card games. The Seminole Tribe began offering card games last year.

"With more gambling opportunities, you'd expect the number of individuals seeking help to continue to rise," executive director Pat Fowler told The South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Twice as many callers are unemployed, the group said.
