Town working on Nottawaseppi Huron casino deal

Officials in Emmett Township, Michigan, are still working on a casino-related agreement with the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Indians.

The town board was supposed to vote on a cross-deputization agreement with the tribe. The deal would allow town officers to patrol the new FireKeepers Casino when it opens next month.

But the agreement was held up due to a "last minute snag," a local official said. The town's next meeting takes place August 12. The tribe hasn't set an exact opening date for the casino.
