"Can you imagine if Florida had two drinking ages -- 18 for beer and wine, 21 for hard liquor?
Or if there were two voting ages -- 18 for local and state races, 21 for federal offices like president?
That's the situation that exists with gambling in Florida.
If you're 18, you can empty your wallet on lottery tickets, poker, and horse and dog racing.
But if you want to play a slot machine at the South Florida pari-mutuel casinos or blackjack at the Seminole casinos, you have to be 21.
"It should be consistent," said state Sen. Eleanor Sobel, D-Hollywood, whose district includes five gambling sites. "Either make the gambling age 18 or make it 21.""
