Revenues at commercial casinos fell 4.7 percent last year, the American Gaming Association reported.
Gross gaming revenues last year were $32.5 billion. The year before, revenues had increased 5.3 percent.
"The U.S. is grappling with the most severe economic downturn in more than a half-century, and – like nearly every industry – the commercial casino industry has been hit hard," said Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr., president and CEO of the AGA, in a press release.
The report, State of the States, does not classify tribal casinos as commercial casinos. But it includes information about Indian gaming markets.
