Lawmakers work on compact for Seminole Tribe

Blackjack is emerging as a key issue as lawmakers in Florida try to resolve their differences over a Class III compact with the Seminole Tribe.

The House and the Senate agree the tribe should be able to operate slot machines. But lawmakers also say blackjack is on the table.

"Without blackjack, I think it's almost a non-starter," state Sen. Dennis Jones (R) told The South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

The tribe has been offering blackjack and a variety of other table games under a compact that was struck down in state court.
