Alturas Rancheria drops plans for another casino

The Alturas Rancheria has dropped plans for a second casino.

The tribe wanted to open a casino on an allotment. But the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the National Indian Gaming Commission say the land is under the jurisdiction of the Karuk Tribe.

"Therefore, we are unable to build a casino owned and operated by the Alturas Indian Rancheria," Chairman Phillip Del Rosa said in a press release quoted by The Siskiyou Daily News.
