Pinoleville Band announces plans for first casino

The Pinoleville Band of Pomo Indians announced plans for a casino after signing a compact with California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R).

The tribe plans a casino with up to 900 slot machines. The compact requires the tribe to share 15 percent of annual net win revenues with the state.

"This casino means a brighter future for our nation and our neighbors," Chairwoman Leona Williams told The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat.

The compact includes provisions regarding patron disputes, environmental assessments, labor unions, minimum internal control standards, safety codes and problem gamblers. If it wins state and federal approval, the agreement will run through December 21, 2030.

The casino, would be the third in the Ukiah area. The tribe's reservation sits along a major highway.
